What’ going on in front of your fire this Christmas?
You and your family could be putting the finishing touches to your Christmas decorations – (remember nothing flammable near the fire.) Perhaps somebody is snuggled up on the sofa with a steaming cup of tea or maybe a cheeky hot chocolate complete with marshmallows – it is Christmas after all.
We will probably see somebody frantically wrapping up those last-minute gifts – sitting in front of the fire with the Sellotape and a pair of scissors and some Christmas songs in the background. Or maybe there’s somebody on the armchair writing the Christmas cards and trying to remember Great Aunt Charlottes address. Every year they say they will put it somewhere safe.
And, we wonder if on a couple of occasions, we may catch a few of the little ones trying to peak at those presents under the tree – if they are very careful they could lift a corner to see what’s inside.
There’s the dog of course, snoring his head off in front of the fire – wonder what he is dreaming about?
And there’s always somebody who pinches a handful of Quality Street each time they walk past, meanwhile while one of the kids can’t resist picking a chocolate decoration from the tree – there won’t be any left at this rate.
It’s nice to see the family all together, the fire on, curtains drawn and a Christmas film on the telly. Although a couple of teenagers are still sneaking a glance at their phones every five minutes.
The fire is the heart of the home – not just at Christmas – but all year round. On behalf of all of us at Flames we hope you have a peaceful and happy Christmas.
