Buy an Ecodesign wood burning stove and you can be kind to the environment

This is the time of year to hibernate. Come home, lock the front door, draw the curtains and light up your log burning stove. It’s the perfect autumn/winter accessory which is why the wood burning stoves on display in our Flames Middleton showroom always elicit a positive response.
However, some Flames customers have expressed concerned about their bad reputation with regard to pollution which has been in the press over the last few weeks. The vast majority of these press articles failed to mention that the industry has already been on the case for several years and in fact, the majority of new wood burning stoves have been designed to reduce emissions by up to 90%.
This is due to new EU legislation on Ecodesign which looks at the energy efficiency of many products. It means that many products will have to meet minimum mandatory requirements by 2020. You will be pleased to know that many of our products already meet them.
All of us want to ensure that our air quality is safe. Replacing your old open fire with a new wood burning stove will reduce particulate emissions by 90% and replacing a stove of ten years old will reduce them by 80%.
And so, investing in a new Ecodesign wood burning stove will be good for the air quality, uses a renewable and sustainable energy source (wood), and will reduce heating bills. In turn, this reduces the carbon footprint of our homes as well as lessening our reliance on power station energy uses for our central heating.
Our wood burning stoves start from as little as £385 and so you can be kind to your pocket as well as the environment. Oh, and one more thing of course, a wood burning stove looks and feels fantastic. Let’s get hibernating.
