The epitome of classical styling, the Portway 2 Traditional combines heavy duty steel and cast iron to produce a stunning, traditional multi-fuel stove that will add character and warmth to larger rooms. The large cast iron door features a large glass viewing window which allows you to enjoy the dancing flames in all their glory. The glass is kept clear by a controlled Airwash which delivers pre-heated air behind the window for clean glass and perfect smokeless combustion.
Ideal for those who require more heat, the Portway No 2 stove has a heat output rating of 6.9kW. But for homeowners with more standard sized rooms who want the impressive looks of a larger appliance, you can fit optional 'Reducer Bricks' inside the appliance which reduces the fire chamber size and therefore reduces the heat output rating to a standard 5kW.
To add to the classical styling, you have the option of a canopy which fits on top of the stove increasing the overall height which is a popular choice of taller enclosures or free-standing installations.
The stove can burn logs up to 410mm (16") and is suitable for use in smoke control areas. This product benefits from a 10 Year Guarantee and is fully compliant with the Eco design directive exceptional 2022 EU standards set to improve the environment by producing highly efficient stoves, that offer clean burning, with ultra low emissions.
A top or rear (interchangeable) 5" flue outlet on the stove make it suitable for a variety of installations and with a slimline depth, the Portway 2 Traditional is ideal for recessing into chambers where depth is at a premium.
With multi-fuel capability, you have the ability to burn either wood logs or approved solid fuels. The Portway 2 Traditional is also classed by DEFRA as a 'Smoke Exempt Appliance' so even if you live in a smoke controlled area, you can legally burn wood or smokeless fuels. The stove is very easy to operate and includes a large, easy-carry ashpan for simple maintenance.
Portway stoves have been specifically engineered to be simple in design, easy to use and still produce the lowest levels of carbon monoxide emissions, making them exceptionally clean burning. Engineered to be simple in design, easy to use and produce the lowest levels of carbon monoxide emissions. The result is a collection of beautiful looking and exceptionally clean burning appliances.
All Portway stoves use a single pre-heated airwash system to keep the glass window clean. The design is so cleverly simple that there is no need for the second, and in some cases, third airwash system included by other stove manufacturers to provide a clean burning product. All stoves needs air to breathe, there must be a permanent fresh air supply into the space in which it is installed equal to 550mm” for each kW of nominal output. This can often be provided by natural drafts or air leaking around door frames etc.
It is commonly accepted that this alone may suffice for appliances up to 5kW, but in any case of doubt, fit a purpose-made air vent. Consult with your HETAS installer for more advice on adequate ventilation and the requirements of a Carbon Monoxide monitor. Portway offer a Direct Vent Kit* which means that the correct amount of ventilation is drawn directly into the stove without the need for any additional draughty and unsightly airbricks.
Portway’s design success can be merited to over 150 years of experience and a dedicated team of research engineers who are amongst the brightest in the industry. As a result their solid fuel stoves are approved using the most sophisticated research and test systems in the industry. Each stove is made from 96% easily recyclable material and all cast parts, such as doors and grates, are manufactured from 70% recycled iron.
*Can only be used when the stove is installed against an external wall.
