Guaranteed to create an imposing statement in any classical interior, the Carron Abingdon has a traditional Victorian feel with clean, simplistic lines crafted in cast iron. The elegant shaped canopy provides a feminine contrast to this magnificent feature fireplace.
With a overall mantel width of 1040mm (41"), the Abingdon is well suited to smaller rooms or on narrower chimney breasts. It has also proved popular for installation in bedrooms* as often found in period properties. Available in a dramatic matt black finish or a lighter option is the fully polished cast iron finish which is an attractive satin silver.
This versatile reproduction fireplace can be used purely as a decorative piece without a fire subject to you having adequate inset depth for the back section to recess into. If you do want the fireplace to combine with a fire, Carron offer a dedicated coal effect gas fire that is operated manual using controls located behind the ashpan cover at the bottom.
An optional Ashpan Tray is also offered for those who want the ability of having a real fire to burn logs or coal. Due to the increased heat of a real fire, polished surfaces may suffer from tarnishing (especially around the fire chamber). Many consider this part of the charm of a real fire but if you would prefer not to have this, the black version of the Abingdon would be considered a better option.
A wide selection of hearth sizes are offered in polished granite. 4 piece hearths are designed for use with a real fire.
*Gas fires are not suitable for installation into bedrooms.
