The Vermont Defiant is a two-in-one wood burning stove that features a combustion system that allows you to choose between standard and catalytic operation. Combustion smoke passes through a catalyser which lowers it's burning temperature to 600° from 1200° causing the smoke to re-ignite, producing more useable heat from the stove and cleaner emissions.
Other benefits of this fabulous stove include a powerful Airwash system which sweeps the large, ceramic glass door panels and a convenient swing-out ashpan for easy cleaning. Hand crafted in high quality cast iron, the Defiant wood burning stove has the stunning attention to detail that Vermont Castings are renowned for. Available in classic black plus a range of striking enamel finishes.
The doors on this stove can be kept open or even removed for a real crackling open fire. To run the stove in this way, a 200mm flue system would be required. As well as the front doors, the stove can be loaded from the top. The images show the Vermont Defiant with the decorative tracery door design, there is now plain doors option offered which will give a clearer view of the flames. There is also a top hotplate which allows you to boil a kettle or simmer a casserole etc.
Automatic thermostatic operation produces even heat output. The Vermont Defiant produces a nominal heat output of 9.6kW increasing to a massive 16kW maximum output. Adjustable feet mean installing on a uneven floor is no problem.
The outlet on the Defiant stove is oval shaped and therefore requires an adaptor to connect flue pipe to. The size you choose will depend on the flue diameter you plan to use the stove with - 6" is standard or 8" if you plan to use the stove with the doors open. It has the ability to take logs up to a whopping 61cm.
All in all, this is a fantastic stove which is highly regarded and will give you many years of powerful heating and become a major feature in your home.
