This season go au natural

A gas fire from Flames is the perfect starting point for your autumn interior home design style.

For those people who like their homes to be bang on trend when it comes to interiors, a popular look for autumn remains the pared down, minimalism of Scandi design.  Autumn allows nature to show her true colours and so what better time to enjoy all things natural then right now.

For most of us the fire is going to be the focal point of the room and we love this Gazco Studio 1 Freestanding gas fire.  It manages to be both traditional and modern at the same time thanks to its blend of geometric angles with sweeping curves which strike a contemporary note. The gas flames remind us of a traditional wood burning stove.   It’s available with a black or white steel front which means it should sit nicely in most room settings.

For those natural accessories, a hemp or jute rug will complement the fire and natural does not have to neutral.  This rug includes seasonal colours including orange, gold and red and will provides a varied colour palette for you to choose your harmonizing accessories.

Those accessories could include hand carved wooden bowls featuring pine cones and dried berries.  Even though the flames are fake, a willow basket of chopped wood will add to the natural theme.

Elsewhere, add different textures to the room such as linen cushion covers or a linen table cloths. A real wool or faux fur throw, a woven lampshade and add some real plants to bring all the natural elements together.

While a flash of colour will lift the room, true Scandi means pale white, light grey and creams should be the overall colour scheme, but one or two pieces taken from the colours found in the rug – a mustard ceramic pot or a terracotta vase are allowed.
